In the following year, our business was developing a need for more space. We sat down with Dick to explore various remedies to the problem. We decided that a second building, but one proximate to our primary building, would solve our space needs. After investigating and showing us several properties that had possibilities, Dick called the owner of a property (not offered for sale at the time) that would work nicely for what we needed. Again, he and one of his associates pulled together information on sales and listings of manufacturing and warehouse buildings in the area to help us decide what we should offer. Though this deal did not immediately come together, Dick was persistent in communicating with the owner over the ensuing months until the sale finally came to fruition (and at our original offer on the ±40,000 square foot building).

Richard Odom & Associates has become our “go to” resource whenever the business, or our family, have real estate needs and decisions. A few years ago my Dad and I sought to find a recreation/timberland farm to expand our lifelong interests in upland game bird/waterfowl hunting and habitat. We sat down with Dick Odom and together outlined a list of parameters describing a tract that would meet our needs. Dick and one of his associates set about identifying the properties that might be available, collected data on each of those, inspected them and narrowed the possibilities to a short list of tracts for us to view. When we became interested in pursuing the purchase of one of those tracts, they began to collect data on sales and offerings in the area that were helpful in our making a decision of what to offer. Ultimately, Dick helped us negotiate the purchase price and to overcome several obstacles that invariably crop up in a real estate transaction. We now are proud to own the 300 acre Whisnant Shoals Farm on the Broad River in western York County, South Carolina that is ideally suited for my Dad and me to pursue our hobbies.
